Careers of the Future

A career that looks appealing to me is a Police Officer. It looks appealing because I have always loved watching Police Officers speeding down the road to catch the speeder. I have always loved it when I am in the side-by-side while my Dad is speeding on the sand bar. I also have liked being dangerous. I know that Police Officers are in danger all the time, if it is being shot at or being punched at. I love it when my blood starts pumping, and I get the adrenal rush. The kind of education required is a High school diploma. Some agencies require college-level training or a degree. Although that is not all the years in college that I want, it will still be worth it.  A school that has a degree in being a Police Officer is Heritage College. The link to the school is http://www.heritagecollege.edu/. Their school mascot is a fighting leaf. Approximately, the cost of the school is $58,528. The average salary for a Police Officer is $58,720. The field of study that I would like to peruse is to be a detective. I would like to be a detective because I am good at spotting things out. There is no specific company I want to be in because I haven’t given a career much thought. That is why a Police Officer is appealing to me.

The second career that I am looking at is being an Athletic Trainer. This career is appealing to me because I have always loved working out. I have been a gymnast for around eleven years. I also have been in five of more sports. My life would not be complete without sports or working out. I know that it will be hard, physically, to be an Athletic Trainer but in the long run, it will be really healthy for me. A college that I am looking at is K-State. It offers a degree in Athletic Training. The link to the school is http://www.k-state.edu/. Their school mascot is Willie the Wildcat. Approximately, the cost for four years is $52,698. The average salary for an Athletic Trainer is $41,772. The field that I would like to study in would be in sports medicine. I would like to work with gymnasts. There is no specific company that I want to be in because I also have not given it much thought. That is why an Athletic Trainer looks appealing to me.

The Core of the Matter

USA Today Video and article
MCafee interview
Backdoor Letter

Both sides are right. You should protect your information, but you should also give it to the government. If there is a crime, and a phone has the information on it, but you don’t know the pass code, you want to have as many tries as you need. Michael Hayden, a former CIA director would have agreed with the government if he was still a part of the CIA, because it would have made his work easier. He said, “In this specific case, I’m trending toward the government, but I’ve got to tell you in general I oppose the government’s effort” (USA Today). If you have personal information on your phone, you don’t want people to get to it, so you want to have a limited amount of tries. You want to also have an unlimited amount of tries, just in case you forgot your pass code and you don’t want anyone to erase the information if you try too many times.

I agree with Apple, because even though the government wants a backdoor, I don’t want someone to get into my phone and mess with it. I want to keep my private information private. “If the government can use the All Writs Act to make it easier to unlock your iPhone, it would have the power to reach into anyone’s device to capture their data” Customer Letter From Apple. With a backdoor, anyone could get into a phone and mess with it. That is why I don’t want a backdoor in the Apple phones.

Thoughts…
If the US government can tell Apple what to do, why can’t other governments like Russian, or Chinese?
What if the government will start asking Android and other companies to create a backdoor?

How a Driverless Car Sees the Road

How a Diverless Car Sees the Road

A driverless car is a car that drives itself, but how does it see what is going on, on the road? Well, there is a program, that takes in what is around it, in the program. People who designed the program, put in all different things in the world, like a bicyclist, or a person crossing to road. The different cars on the road are boxes, as you see in the video. The car has a sensor on the top of its roof, and that is how it can see everything.

1. What if the car got into a crash, and the sensor is smashed or got knocked off? How much would it cost to get it replaced?
2. How much gas mileage does it get?
